Terrorist Attacks on the WTC
September 11, 2001. One date that changed America, and changed our world forever. This day will live in our hearts forever but it doesn’t weaken us, it only makes us stronger. It gives us a reason to fight back against terrorism. On this day there were 4 suicides and along with each suicide, an attack against Americas iconic buildings. Each suicide included a plane with innocent people and children, and men with determination to destroy bits of America.
This day started off as a normal day, many going to work every where across America and children going to school to see their friends and talk about the latest new trend. But there were also men planning a terrorist attack in hotel rooms behind closed doors. People were rushing into airports and trying to catch planes to vacations, business trips, and to visit an old friend. Little did these people know that 19 men were about to hijack 4 planes, two to the world trade center, one to the pentagon, and one to an anonymous location thought to be the capital building. The first plane to hit its target hit was at 8:46 a.m. and it hit the North tower of the World Trade Center. The second to hit its target was at 9:37 a.m. and it hit the Pentagon, leaving America frightened but the worst was yet to come. The third hit was the South tower of the WTC at 10:03 a.m. the last was to hit the capital building supposedly but instead went down near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The affects were catastrophic, not only physically, but mentally to America.
The first tower to collide with the ground was the south tower at 9:59 a.m. People who were surrounding the building ran in fear as debris and smoke dominated the areas below. The smoke and debris spread all across the island, leaving nothing undiscovered by dust. At 10:28 a.m. the thought in the back of everyone’s head had appeared before their eyes, the north tower collapsed, leaving firefighters running, policemen screaming, and innocent people dying. The worst had happened and there was nothing to do to stop it.
America to this day and in the future will never forget this fateful day of sorrow, but we won’t just say on the sidelines anymore, we will stand up and fight and keep fighting until we get justice. This is for all those who we lost, all those who knew someone, and the firefighters and the policemen whose lives they put on the line to save the people who they didn’t know but whose lives were worth risking for. We thank all those people who helped on that day whether it be a firefighter, or the man who stood up and worked to get people out of the building before him. We will not forget you, and we carry you in our hearts.
