The New York Yankees Stadium right now is located in the Bronx, one of the five boroughs of New York City. The club was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in the year of 1901. During this time they were known as the Baltimore Orioles. In 1903 they moved to New York City becoming the New York Highlanders, only in the later years of 1913 did they officially become the Yankees. Before they moved to New York they were sharing a field with the New York Giants.
The first Yankee stadium was built in 1923, which eventually got the nickname “The House That Ruth Built” because of the prime years he had from the time the stadium opened to the beginning of their winning rein. The stadium was constructed specifically for the Yankees to play in for price of 2.4 million dollars (equal to $30,894,716 today). The stadium is home to many historical home runs, no-hitters, perfect games, and so many more things we baseball fans dream to see. In 2006 they started constructing a new Yankee stadium, and later in 2009 it had its opening, and just the day after it opened did the Yankees play on the field.
The Yankees are one baseball team every American knows, from its most famous players like, Joe DiMaggio, Derek Jeter, Mickey Mantle, and of course Babe Ruth. To the field history has been made on countless times. To the World Series they have played. This team has developed many nicknames such as “The Bombers”/”The Bronx Bombers” for their amazing hitting record, “The Yanks” for short, and “Pinstripes” in reference to their home game jerseys.
