Boroughs
Many people who know of New York City are mostly unaware that this fabulous city is not all one. This city is separated into 5 sections called boroughs. These five boroughs are Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island. In each paragraph I will tell you all about each borough, where it’s located, and some facts about how each part is unique.
The Queens is located on the far eastern side of the boroughs. This borough has a population of 2.3 million, making it the 2nd most populous borough. In this part of the city they are considered a very suburban area, but many would disagree seeing as how some of the neighborhoods are fully urban. Some famous people who grew up in Queens are Donald Trump, Nicki Minaj, and Nancy Reagan first lady. Sports wise, the Queens is home to the New York Mets.
The Bronx is home to a population of 1,400,761 people, according to the latest census. This community is the northern most borough divided by the Bronx River. The Bronx is also home to the famous Bronx Zoo, one of the most famous zoos in the world holding many different animals, friendly and not so friendly. This community is also home to Jennifer Lopez, Lea Michele (Rachael from Glee), and Tracy Morgan.
The next borough on the list is Brooklyn. This part of the city holds a population of 2,504,700, making it the most populous of all the boroughs. This neighborhood is very popular among immigrants, making it a very ethnic place to be in. Brooklyn is a beautiful place that includes the Botanic Gardens, which will blow you away with beauty. They are also home to famous people such as Anne Hathaway, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Jimmy Fallon, Michael Jordan, and Mike Tyson.
The next section of NYC is Manhattan. This part of the city is the most exciting of them because it includes all of the business and fancy things. This includes Wall Street, Broadway Theater, the Empire State Building, Times Square, and Central Park. This part of the city has a population of 1,585,873, with the densest populated county in the United States. This would by far be the county to visit if you ever go to NYC. Although it is crazy, it’s worth the time.
The last of the boroughs is Staten Island. This island is located in the southwest part of New York City. It has a population of 468,730, making it the least populated borough of the city. This part is famous for being the most suburban of the boroughs. The island includes the Staten Island zoo and the Historic Richmond Town. To visit this borough would be like taking a trip through a history book, because of all the things that happened during the American Revolution.
